Premeditated Business Networking

Because…success doesn’t just happen.

Can you tell a “professional visitor” from “someone who really wants to get business done?”

Have you ever met someone, had a brief discussion, then afterwards wondered . . .

  • · What was her/his name again?
  • · What did he/she say she did?
  • · Why would I care?
  • · Did he/she want something?

There are those that dive into a well-rehearsed elevator a runaway train, full speed ahead without regard or understanding of where they are going.

Some people believe in the “throw enough crap at the wall something will stick” approach to selling. But when you are selling yourself, what you do or how you get it done, this method can just leave a real mess to clean up later.

Many business professionals look for business in an Apple Orchard when they should be in the Orange Grove. Would you know if you were in the right place?

'Sun Records' stars talk about living and filming in Memphis
The day before shooting wrapped on CMT's "Sun Records," Memphis Business Journal visited the South Memphis set to witness the TV series production and talk to the cast and crew. While 60 percent of the crew and 43 of the cast members (with speaking roles) were from Memphis/Shelby County, nearly all of the top-line cast were professional actors from outside the area. That means that the performers, along with the other non-resident crew, lived in Memphis for some or all of the 69 shooting days "Sun…

Haslam tweaks transportation bill, gives transit advocates big win
Middle Tennesseans just got their wish — maybe. On Tuesday, Gov. Bill Haslam seemed to respond to local transit advocates when he filed an amendment to his transportation-funding bill that would give local governments more flexibility to fund mass-transit projects. The newly filed amendment would allow local governments to hold public votes on surcharges to existing local taxes as possibilities to pay for public transit projects. This means Middle Tennessee officials could look to local property…
