The state’s Internet cafe operators suffered a major setback Wednesday when the Ohio Senate passed a bill that would effectively put them out of business.
In a 27-6 vote, the Senate approved legislation previously OK'd by the Ohio House. House Bill 7 will now go to Gov. John Kasich, who supports it, and would become effective 90 days after he signs it.

Hamilton County commissioners want the city of Cincinnati to repeal an ordinance that gives union shops an advantage in bidding on Metropolitan Sewer District projects.
The commissioners unanimously passed a resolution suspending its approval of capital project bidding for MSD, which the county owns but the city runs. The suspension will remain in effect until the city backs off and the county and the city agree on a framework for such bidding, the resolution says.

Rajat Gupta, a former board member at Procter & Gamble Co. and Goldman Sachs who was convicted on insider trading charges, wants a new trial, the Associated Press reported.
His attorney told an appeals court on Tuesday that Gupta didn’t get a fair trial because key evidence was excluded. Gupta’s daughter should have been allowed to testify about discord he had with hedge fund investor Raj Rajaratnam in 2008.

American Financial Group Inc. Co-CEO Craig Lindner cashed in on his company’s success, selling $1.3 million worth of stock in the past week.
Lindner sold just more than 26,000 shares in two separate transactions May 17 and May 20, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. He received a little more than $49.50 per share for the stock.
